Action to be taken against Rampachodavaram ASP
State home minister Sabitha Indra Reddy indicated on Sunday that disciplinary action would be taken against Rampachodavaram ASP Naveen Kumar for making allegations against other officers at a press conference last week.
The minister told reporters that Mr Kumar had showed her scant respect by making allegations against officers at a time when she was touring the district.
She said that if the IPS official had evidence of wrong-doing by others, he should have brought it to the notice of higher authorities. Instead, he had aired the allegations in public. She added that steps would be taken against him soon.
It is learnt that she had asked the DGP to have the officer shifted out from his post.
Earlier in the day, Mr Naveen Kumar demanded a probe by the CBI or by a third party into the issue of ganja smuggling in East Godavari Agency.
Speaking to media persons here, he alleged that attempts were being made to suppress facts. He threatened to move court. Mr Kumar is involved in a dispute with district SP C.M. Trivikram Varma for and DIG-Eluru Surya-prakasa Rao is conducting an inquiry.
