ACB issues notice to MLA Sriramulu
Spreading its net on close acquaintances of mining baron Mr Gali Janardhan Reddy, the Anti-Corruption Bureau probing the cash-for-bail scam on Friday sent notices to Bellary MLA Sriramulu to appear for questioning before August 21.
The ACB has already arrested all accused in the case, including Gali Janardhan Reddy’s brother Gali Somashekar Reddy and Kampli MLA Suresh Babu.
The investigating agency filed a chargesheet before the ACB court on August 13, which the court took into cognizance on Friday.
It is understood that the probe agency wants to question Mr Sriramulu regarding the source of money allegedly given as bribe to secure bail for the former Karnataka
minister.
According to the investigators, his role in the case emerged after the arrest of his nephew Mr Suresh Babu, also an MLA.
Mr Ravi Suryaprakash, a realtor arrested for alleged involvement in mediating the deal, had earlier revealed in his confession statement that he met Mr Sriramulu through Mr Suresh Babu to discuss modus operandi of the deal. Sources said Mr Sriramulu’s role would be investigated to ascertain if he arranged the bribe amount, Rs 9.5 crore, allegedly given to Yadigiri Rao to mediate the deal.
