56 tech colleges in AP request closure
As many as 56 technical institutions in AP have submitted applications to the All India Council for Technical Education, requesting permission for closure citing poor response to admissions. Of them are 28 MCA colleges, 14 MBA, five engineering, five pharmacy and three technical campuses that offer all kinds of professional courses, most of them located in suburban and rural areas. However, over a dozen MCA colleges are located on the outskirts of the city.
While AICTE had received 150 such closure applications across the country, AP stood at the top with 56 applications, followed by 18 from Rajasthan, 17 from Uttar Pradesh, 13 from Gujarat, seven from Maharashtra, six each from Punjab and Haryana, five each from Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka, four from Chhattisgarh, two each from West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, and one each from Uttarakhand and Bihar.
