400-yr-old mosque faces threat from builders
A four century old mosque and tomb behind the Golconda Fort at Neknampur will soon be memory thanks to the sheer greed and insensitivity of contractors. The structure will be torn down for developing a cooperative housing colony nearby; the entire hillock where the mosque and tomb is situated is being excavated. Though local activists complained to revenue officials, archeology department and even the CM, nothing has been done to stop the excavation and protect the historic mosque and tomb. A local activist says that according to revenue records the historic mosque and tomb is on five acres of land under Survey number 30/31 of Rajendranagar mandal. However, now with rampant excavation using earthmovers, the area has shrunk and if the excavation continues the entire hillock will vanish
