3 accused in call data leak granted bail

Justice Samudrala Govindarajulu of the AP High Court on Thursday granted anticipatory bail to three accused in the call data case relating to CBI joint director V.V. Lakshiminarayana. While granting bail to M. Srinivas Rao, former inspector of Nacharam police station in the city, BSNL officer, K. Hanumantha Rao and M.V. Ramana Rao, a private employee, the judge opined that he does not believe that dedicated officers will be demoralised by cheap tactics like publishing of call data in newspapers and news channels.

The judge said, “It may be a fact that there is certain amount of infringement into right of privacy of the complainant (CBI joint director) .This court is of the opinion that these are not cases which are alarming or grave in nature”. The judge directed the petitioners to surrender before the VIth additional chief metropolitan magistrate, Hyderabad, on or before September 13 and furnish personal bonds for Rs 10,000 each together with two sureties before the magistrate to obtain bail.

The judge has pointed out that investigation of these cases is almost completed except for receiving Forensic report relating to material electronic objects sent to the laboratory. The investigating officers have collected voluminous oral evidence as well as documents apart from material objects in these cases. He observed that they are fit cases to grant bail as there was no allegation that the petitioners have suppressed any information or material relating to the case.

Srinidhi fee may change
The AP High Court on Thursday told the Eamcet 2012 convener to inform students taking admissions in Srinidhi Institute of Science and Technology that the fee of the college would be subject to the final outcome of its plea before the court. Justice C.V. Nagarjuna Reddy was dealing with a plea by Sree Educational Society challenging the decision of the Admission and Fee Regulation Committee in fixing Rs 73, 600 as the fee without considering its plea to increase the fee to Rs 1.17 lakh per student.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
