2 killed, 10 hurt in mishap on Outer ring road
A mother and her son returning from a marriage party were killed on the spot and 10 others suffered injuries in a mishap on the Outer Ring Road early on Tuesday. The newly married couple were also injured.
The incident took place when a speeding lorry rammed into a van that was parked on the side of the ring road.
According to the RGIA police, the van carrying close to 25 people from the wedding party was parked at Kotwalguda. While some people were standing outside, some were sitting inside the vehicle when the accident took place.
The 70-year-old woman Peddamma and her son Chandramouli, 45, had got down from the vehicle to relieve themselves when the lorry’s front wheel ran over them. The family was returning from Mahbubnagar district.
The injured were taken to Trident Hospital. The truck driver and cleaner ran away abandoning the vehicle. The cops are looking for the absconding driver. The bride, Swathy, 24, and the groom, Srinivas, 28, and their relatives Rani, Devika, Shivani, Saicharan, and baby Srinidhi survived the mishap. However, cops say one Venkatamma is in a critical condition.
