2 judges in judicial remand till July 26
The cash-for-bail scam involving mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy has opened a Pandora’s Box with the arrest, and remand to judicial custody on Thursday, of sitting Andhra Pradesh judges K. Lakshminarasimha Rao and Prabhakar Rao. The actions formed part of an ongoing series.
After the ACB registered separate cases against the two, they were produced before the ACB court here, which sent them to judicial custody till July 26. Cases of corruption and criminal conspiracy have been slapped on them. D. Prabhakar Rao, a family court-cum-3rd additional district and sessions judge of Srikakulam, and K. Lakshminarasimha Rao, chief judge of the small causes court here, had been taken into custody on Wednesday following the confession of suspended judge Pattabhi Rama Rao — the prime accused now under judicial custody. Pattabhi Rama Rao is learnt to have revealed that Prabhakar Rao had approached him with the offer of huge money to give bail for the mining baron.
