Pippa turns columnist, to dish out cooking tips
Pippa Middleton, sister of British royal Kate, will offer culinary tips as a columnist for a monthly British grocery store magazine despite heavy criticism of her debut book about party planning. She will write for the British supermarket chain Waitrose’s monthly magazine, sharing “casual dining ideas and recipes” in a column called Pippa’s Friday Night Feasts.
Advice published in her 2012 book Celebrate, intended to be a guide to entertaining throughout the year, included using “sharp-bladed scissors” to cut wrapping paper. A guide to organising a sack race explained how “players start jumping in their sacks towards the finish line”, while advice on Christmas catering suggested turkey could be on the menu. The author Jilly Cooper was among those to criticise the content, describing it as “terrible”.
Pippa, who defended her book insisting it had to “cover the basics”, said she “can’t wait to get started”. “I’m delighted to be writing for Waitrose Kitchen, a magazine that’s always been a source of inspiration to me for its extensive spectrum of food and beautiful style,” the 29-year-old was quoted by Sky News as saying. “My column will be an exciting opportunity to share my own passion and enthusiasm for food and entertaining,” Pippa said.
