Lily’s lyrics draw on motherhood

After becoming a wife and mother, singer Lily Allen says her lyrical inspiration has changed. The Fear hitmaker, who has been on hiatus from the pop world since 2009, said her lyrics draw on her new life as a wife to Sam Cooper and mother to daughters Ethel, 18 months, and Marnie, four months, reported Contactmusic.

“I wouldn’t say it has been easy (writing songs again) but it hasn’t been hard. It has just been different because my pool of inspiration is just so different to what it was eight, nine, 10 years ago... It’s all about nappies, you’re going to love it,” she said. While the Smile star loves being at home with her daughters, she knows she would not feel fulfilled if she gave up her career for good. “I think five years ago what I really wanted to do was have kids and I have had two kids now and as much as I love that I’m never going to be the type of person that sits at home all day playing with plastic toys and watching Peppa Pig.”
