Kelly wanted to play Dorothy in Wizard of Oz
The 25-year-old star Kelly Osbourne, whose parents are Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, fell in love with the classic 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz when she was a child and claims her desire to take on Judy Garland’s role as Dorothy was one of her main motivations in seeking fame.
Kelly said, “The film that inspired me the most was The Wizard Of Oz, because it’s so magical and so colourful. I felt there was a character that represented every strong human emotion in that movie, great for growing up, and of course who didn’t want to be Judy Garland? It really made me feel, ‘Oh I’d like to have a go at something like that.’ ”
Kelly appears to have moved one step closer to realising her goal after she recently revealed she had auditioned for her first movie role.
She said, “I had an audition for a film role a couple of weeks ago, I can’t say what it is yet, and I’ve just heard back that I’m still in the running. The audition was pretty scary, you turn up and there’s a room full of people all going for the same role. It feels very competitive as everyone’s checking each other out.”
