John cancels concerts due to throat problem
Singer John Mayer has scrapped two upcoming shows and postponed his album release due to throat problem. Mayer was due to perform with legendary singer Tony Bennett at a show in Los Angeles as well as at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas later this month. However, he was forced to cancel it after doctors discovered a granuloma near his vocal cords, an inflamed mass of tissue, reports contactmusic.com.
“I know there were people depending on me to be there (at the concerts) and I’m sorry that I can’t be on those stages. After several months of monitoring and hoping to correct the condition, I’m forced to cancel my upcoming singing engagements due to something next to my vocal cords called a granuloma,” he wrote in a message on Tumblr.com. “Born and Raised (album) is complete as far as music recording, song selection, and in some cases mixing, but because of this condition I couldn’t finish singing on several of the tracks. the record will be released next year,” he added.
