Christina gets a grip on rejection
Christina Hendricks has revealed that she was “rejected a million times” before she landed her role in American period drama Mad Men.
The 37-year-old, who has become an international sex symbol after she featured as an alluring secretary Joan Harris on the hit television drama in 2007, insists that she was just like any other struggling actress before her lucky break, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
Hendricks told America’s Flare magazine that despite all her difficulties, she is grateful for the character-building experience. The actress, who believes casting directors sometimes hire on the most obscure whims, said that now when she auditions, she tries her best not to take rejection personally.
She said that sometimes you could leave thinking you had the best audition in the world and they say you don’t look like the person they imagined. Hendricks explained that it has nothing to do with your talent, adding that someone could have just broken up with a redhead around the same time as the audition and thus did not want to hire her.
