Services off to strong start, Sai rout Bihar
Services got off to a buoyant start in the Hockey India men’s senior national hockey championships as they defeated Goa 28-0 in their first league match in Pool C at the Shiv Chattrapati Sports Complex in Pune on Saturday.
For the winners, Sanwar Ali struck eight goals while Siraju A.P. netted six.
In another match of Pool C, Sports Authority of India blanked Bihar 9-0.
Meanwhile, Namdhari XI continued their winning run on the fifth day of the meet as they defeated Sashastra Seema Bal 8-2 for a third consecutive win in Pool F.
Gurpreet Singh scored five goals for Namdhari XI while Gurpreet, Harpal Singh and Manpreet Singh scored once each. Arif Ansari and Vinay Biswakarma were the goal scorers for Sashastra Seema Bal.
In Pool B, Chhattisgarh beat Tripura 7-3 riding on a brace each by Pareek Ravi and Ajajus Salam. In Pool H, Assam beat Rajasthan 10-0 while Tamil Nadu drew 2-2 against Chandigarh.
