Orissa boys hold ASC
Town High School from Orissa overcame a four goal deficit to pull off a 5-5 draw against Bengaluru-based Army Boys Sports company, ASC Centre and College, in a Pool A match of the 30th Nehru sub-junior boys hockey tournament at the Shivaji Stadium on Thursday.
The Bengaluru outfit led 5-1 till the half time, but the Orissa boys upped the ante after the change of ends to pump in four goals in the span of 13 minutes.
In Pool B, Malwa Khalsa Senior Secondary School from Ludhiana posted a 7-6 win over Lucknow-based Guru Gobind Singh Sports College.
Malwa Khalsa School were placed comfortably (5-1) till the lemon break, before the Lucknow boys came into their elements. The teams battled it out in the second half, with the scores reading 7-6 in the Khalsa boys’s favour by the 59th minute.
In the other two matches of the day, Mehta Gurukul Public School of Ludhiana beat CRZ Senior Secondary School, Sonipat 2-1 in Pool C, while Springdale Sr Sec. School of Amritsar split points with Mizoram-based Govt High School in Pool D. The match ended 2-2.
