Soak up the sunshine
Spinal problems rank as one of the most common afflictions among youngsters today. The reasons are multifold — increasing stress at the workplace, lack of exercise and improper posture being the most common. Interestingly, lack of exposure to sunlight also causes spinal and lower back trouble.
When a person doesn’t have enough exposure to sunlight, the body’s Vitamin D levels go down drastically. This causes bone strength to reduce and has a drastic effect on the spine.
Due to the fear of surgeries, inability to withstand pain, many women are opting for Caesarean procedures. This ends up affecting abdominal muscles and causes immense strain on the lower back. Following this, lack of proper exercise to strengthen muscles post surgery adds to the pain and inadequacy. Many opt for hysterectomy which also has similar ill-effects on the back.
While performing such surgeries isn’t wrong, palliative care is extremely important. A healthy diet, followed by exercise is imperative. As for Vitamin D deficiency, there is no other substitute except adequate exposure to the sun. Spend atleast an hour in the morning sunlight by walking, running or jogging.
