As long as you don’t have pain, ignore it
Q I am a 45-year-old man and for the past two months, I’ve been suffering from an itch at the tip of my penis. I have no problems urinating. Around 20 years ago, I had sex with a lady and at the time, I noticed pus in my urine. However, I recovered from that disease as I got treated for the same and I have been enjoying a happy married life
for the past 19 years. However, I want to know if this itch that I have recently developed is due to the illicit relationship I had with the lady 20 years ago? Will this affect my sexual ability and what can I do to help the situation?
It is unlikely that your past infection is the cause of the penile itching. Are you diabetic? Check your blood sugar levels. Fungal infection of the head of the penis (glans penis) may be responsible for the itching. If your wife has any vaginal infection, then that may also be a cause for your problem. As you are middle-aged, your skin may be getting dry and this dryness may also be a cause. The best thing is to get examined by a doctor. A personal physical examination will help diagnose your condition.
Q I am 26 years old and I recently got married. When my wife and I had intercourse for the first time, she bled a lot and said that it hurt her. I did not bleed and nothing hurt me but I am afraid.
The bleeding could be due to the rupture of the hymen. In addition, a little left over menstrual blood (if you had intercourse immediately after your wife’s period) or a minor bruise or abrasion could have also caused the bleeding. As long as you don’t have pain, irritation, itching, etc. just ignore it. If you are highly concerned, get examined by a gynaecologist.
