Condoms do not have side-effects
Q I use a long-lasting condom when I have sex and I want to know if using such a condom regularly has any side-effects?
No. To the best of my knowledge such usage will not produce any side-effects.
Q When I had sex with my husband recently, he ejaculated inside me but I do not want to get pregnant. I want to know if I need to take an emergency contraceptive pill. I went to the loo and washed myself. Can I still get pregnant?
By the time you read this reply, the mandatory period before which you should have taken the emergency contraceptive pill would have passed. To be effective, these pills should be consumed within 72 hours of unprotected sex. In fact, the earlier it is taken the better. Theoretically speaking, you can get pregnant, if you had intercourse around your ovulatory period. My suggestion is that you wait until your next menstrual cycle and if you get your period, it means that the pregnancy has not occurred. If the period does not occur even three weeks after it is due, go for a pregnancy test. Pregnancy home test kits are available in the market. In case your pregnancy is confirmed, meet your gynaecologist for a medical termination of the pregnancy. Simple, safe and effective methods are available to terminate an unwanted
pregnancy.
Q I am a 55-year-old man and the foreskin of my penis is not rolling back. I consulted a doctor and he circumcised me. If I start having sex again will it scar or wound my penis?
You can resume your sex life approximately six weeks from the date of surgery (circumcision). By that time the wound would have healed completely and the surgical scar would have become desensitised, so as to make intercourse smooth and comfortable. Just make sure that your wife lubricates well (vaginally). You can use an artificial lubricant like K-Y jelly.
