Vani, Shweta share lead after Round 1
Rookie golfer Shweta Galande and Delhi’s Vani Kapoor shared the lead with level par scores on Wednesday after the end of the first round of the Hero-KGA Women’s Pro-Golf Championship being played at the KGA course in Bengaluru.
Shweta had a strong start with two consecutive birdies on the 3rd and the 4th holes followed by three more on the 7th, 10th and the 11th. However, a bogey on the 6th and two double bogeys on the 9th and 14th marred her chances of taking the sole lead in Round One.
Vani, on the other hand, had a consistent day with one birdie on the 10th hole and a bogey on the 16th hole.
Delhi’s Ankita Tiwana was placed third with four over 76. In-form Kolkata golfer Neha Tripathi had a bad day, finishing with a score of six over 78 and was tied fourth with Kenya’s Bhavi Shah.
