Srinagar to host nat’l police golf
Jammu and Kashmir will host the 17th All India Police golf tournament at the Royal Spring Golf Course in Srinagar from October 8 to 10.
Director General of Police Ashok Prasad said while chairing a meeting of senior police functionaries at Armed Police headquarters in Srinagar on Tuesday.
The meeting discussed various issues to ensure arrangements for the tournament. Prasad asked the officers to work in close coordination and utilise previous experiences for making the event a success. Prasad also invited golf lovers to witness the competition between national-level players.
The tournament will see 100 players representing 26 teams from various states and central police organisations of the country participating in the three-day event.
This is the third occasion that the event is being hosted by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Before this, the 2002 and 2005 editions were also hosted in the city by J&K Police.
The organisation has been hosting various national sports events in different disciplines in recent times including the All India Police Football Championship, All India Police Wrestling Cluster and National Athletic Meet.
The national championships for the police are held under the aegis of All India Police Sports Control Board.
