Riddhima falters but still on top
Delhi girl Ridhima Dilawari carded a poor six-over 77 but still continued to lead the field after the second round of the Usha Maharashtra Ladies Golf at the Poona Golf Club on Wednesday.
At the end of Day 2, Ridhima was five shots clear of Millie Saroha (77, 75) and six ahead of Raksha Phadke (78, 75) and Gurbani Singh (77, 76).
The 14-year-old Ridhima, who opened the tournament with a fine one-under par 70, struggled in the morning going five-over for the front nine — three bogeys and a double bogey. She though settled down on the back nine with two birdies against one bogey and one double bogey.
Millie and Raksha had two birdies each in their rounds of 75, while Gurbani played steady for her 76 but had just one birdie. Ankita Kedalya (79-75) and Trisha Sunil (81-75) rounded off the top-six. Ridhima (147) also led in Category B with Ankita Kedalya (154) second, while in Category A, Mille (152) was just one ahead of Raksha (153).
In Category C, Arushi Pandey (86, 82) overtook Riya Ahuja (81, 88) while in Category D, Tanishka Kumar (82, 82) stayed ahead of Anika Varma (89, 87). This is the penultimate event of the ladies amateur tour with only one more event, the all India Amateurs to be held in December at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club.
