Neha, Simi lead pack in 7th leg
In-form women’s golfer Neha Tripathi and veteran Simi Mehra, both from Kolkata, will lead a strong field at the seventh leg of the Hero women’s pro golf tour 2013, that gets under way at the Eagleton Golf Club in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
Neha has won three legs this season, while Smiti has two wins to her name on the tour so far.
Following her back-to-back wins in the fifth and sixth legs, Neha will be eager to extend her winning spree this week as well. With her impressive performance graph, the Kolkata golfer has taken over the top spot from Smriti in the Hero Order of Merit for the current season and now leads the pack.
Local golfer Sharmila Nicollet will be missing out the leg owing to a foot injury, which she picked up during the Ladies European Tour this summer.
Chandigarh golfers Preetinder Kau-r and Saaniya Sharma along with Delhi’s Vani Kapoor will also look to put up a strong challenge to Neha and Smriti.
The Hero women’s professional golf tour 2013 comprises 13 legs spanning key locations in India across the year. The seventh leg will be played after a summer gap of four months, and all players are eager to get back onto the greens.
