Mehar, Aditi favourites
Delhi girl and defending champion Mehar Atwal will be among the top contenders along with Aditi Ashok — the current leader on the Ladies and junior girls Order of Merit — when the Usha Southern India Ladies tees off at the KGA Bengaluru golf course on Tuesday.
More than 60 players are in the hunt for the season’s second event that include ladies and junior golfers.
Local lass Aditi won the season’s opening ladies event — the Usha Delhi Ladies event at the Noida golf course in April.
Aditi was in terrific form while winning the opening event, but Mehar took time warming up before ending outside the top-10.
Coming here as the defending champion, Mehar may step up her game in an attempt to retain the title..
On the other hand, Aditi — for whom the KGA is a home course — would like to make amends for her last year’s show when she finished fifth.
Another Delhi golfer, Gauri Monga, who took time off from the game to focus on her school examinations, is also in the fray.
She did make a low-key comeback in a Delhi event during April but she is also amongst one of the contenders.
The strong field also includes Gurbani Singh and Millie Saroha — who were second and third in Delhi Ladies event — besides Gursimar Badwal.
