Indian jrs up for the task
The 4th Albatross international junior golf championship will be played at the Jaypee Greens Golf Resort in Greater Noida, from November 20 to 23, Albatross Golf India said on Friday.
As many as 38 out of 124 participants — making up more than a quarter of the field — will be overseas entries, organisers said and added they were confident the Albatross boys and girls were more than capable of holding their own.
John Volz, tournament organiser of the Albatross International Junior, said increased exposure to tournament play, both at home and abroad, has led to a dramatic improvement in the level of junior scores and praised Albatross for contributing to the development of the junior game in India.
Also present were Mohit Taneja, brand manager of TaylorMade-Adidas, and Rajiv Talwar, director, Albatross Golf India.
Among those entered are young Albatross members, Saarthak Chhibber, Tanishka Kumar, Akaansha Varma, Amrita Anand, Piyush Sangwan, Tanvir Kahlon, Seher Atwal and Saptak Talwar.
The Albatross International Junior, sanctioned by the Albatross Junior Tour and co-sanctioned by the Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy (USA), will carry R&A world amateur ranking points and Junior Golf Scoreboard (USA) points, which also rates junior golfers on their performances at select events in the US and around the world.
