Titles for DDA, Conscient

Delhi Development Authority FA (A) and Conscient FA emerged champions in the U-17 and U-14 categories respectively at the 2nd Delhi Soccer Association inter-academies football tournament for Delhi United Cup on Thursday.

In the finals played at the at the Ambedkar Stadium, teams from the Baichung Bhutia Football School had to be content with the runners-up trophies after losing both finals.
In the U-14 final, Conscient FA defeated their rivals 3-0. The winners had the match under control in the first half itself, scoring all their three goals inside the first 45 minutes.
Prashant gave the Conscient bOys the lead in the 27th minute which was doubled by Prithvi six minutes later. Ritik’s strike in the 38th minute put them in a commanding position and their rivals were never able to make a comeback in the match. Baichung Bhutia School players tried hard but failed to breach their rivals’ defence even once.
In the U-17 final too, the boys from the Baichung Bhutia School failed to score and were beaten 0-2 by the DDA boys. A major part of the first half in the match remained goalless before Jai Minocha struck in the penultimate minute giving DDA the lead going into half time. DDA sealed the match in the 61st minute with a goal from Dhruv and defended resolutely in the remaining time not allowing their rivals to fashion any fruitful moves.
Former India player and Rajya Sahba MP Prasun Banerjee gave away the prizes. Chetan Shukla (Delhi United FA), Prithvi (Conscient FA), Kaveesh (DDA FA) and Kartik (Punjab Heroes FA) were named the top four rising players of the tournament.
