Shahdara FC draw with Delhi United FC
Shahdara FC rallied from a goal down to share points with ISS-Delhi United FC in a 1-1 draw in a Group II super league match of the DLF-ONGC-Delhi Soccer Association senior division open clubs football championship at the Ambedkar Stadium in the capital on Tuesday.
Delhi United took 1-0 the lead in the 23rd mintue through W. Ajit Singh, who headed home off a left flank cross to surprise rivals’ goalkeeper Pranav Roy.
Delhi United got many chances through their midfielders Monu Chaudhary (also the Delhi Santosh Trophy team captain) and Roshan Chetri but their forwards failed to capitalise on them. Shahdara boys too made inroads into the opponents’ citadel but the forwards muffed easy chances.
Shahdara’s inside-right Sunil finally scored the equaliser in the 62nd minute off a fine header.
Delhi United’s Shashank was shown the yellow card following unsporting behaviour with the match referee Mahesh Bisht.
