Santos could bring glory to Brazil
Gyano’s crystal ball is back again this week as he looks into the future of 4 teams awaiting glory this weekend.
Man City vs Arsenal
Manchester City’s players went to town in London last week. But that was after being handed their first loss of the season at the hands of the other blue team from the Premiership — Chelsea. It is City’s turn now to play host to a team from London and aim to end their streak as Arsenal return to Manchester three months and nine wins since that fateful day at Old Trafford.
Both teams have moved up the table since then — Manchester City lead the Premiership from being second, but it is Arsenal’s jump from 17th to 5th that is more impressive. Almost as impressive as the fact that, since then, whenever captain Robin van Persie has scored, Arsenal have won their league game. Arsene Wenger will keep van Persie in bubble wrap till Sunday and remind Arsenal of their result at the Etihad last year when the Gunners thrashed 10-man City 0-3.
Roberto Mancini will remind his Sky Blues that Samir Nasri opened the scoring that time round and he now plays on the City bench. Expect fireworks as Manchester City host their feeder club on Sunday, 18th December.
Gyano’s Predo
Manchester City 2 – 2 Arsenal
MVP: RVP (Yes, it is also an equation)
Barcelona vs Santos
No team in the history of football has ever scored as many official goals as Santos FC.
Barcelona FC have failed to score in less than 10 games in all competitions for the last 3 years.
Argentina’s greatest player and arguably the best to have ever played the game, Diego Maradona, is a former Barcelona player. The other player who divides opinion on the topic of “greatest ever?”, sensational Brazilian Pele, is a Santos legend.
Another Argentine, the best player in the world at present, Lionel Messi plays for Barcelona. Heir to the throne, Brazilian sensation Neymar, plays for Santos. No final at the Fifa World Club Cup has been as big or exciting.
Gyano’s Predo:
Barcelona 1 – 3 Santos
MVP: Ganso
Other games to look out for are
Sunday
QPR v Manchester United
Tottenham v Sunderland
Kashiwa Reysol v Al Saad.
