‘IMG-R league will benefit India’

Former India captain Baichung Bhutia, speaking in support of the upcoming franchise tournament, has urged I-League clubs to release their players for the IPL-style tournament early next year.
“Indian players will get a chance to rub shoulders with some international icons, giving them good exposure.
“It will benefit Indian football,” Bhutia said.
“Quite a few national players have signed for the IMG-Reliance tournament and it would help if the I-League clubs also release their players for the tournament. It’s an experiment in and we should support it.”
Talking about India’s chances at the Saff Championship in Kathmandu, he said, “It has always been a happy hunting ground for India. No doubt, they start as favourites but it will not be easy. The other teams will want to give India a good fight.”
