Man repeller
No matter how psychologically evolved men might claim to be, there is always a section that believes that girls only dress up to impress boys. And while that might be true for some, there are others who take the business of man-repelling very seriously. Like the 21-year-old Manhattan resident, Leandra Medine, whose blog “The Manrepeller” (Manrepeller.com) defines the act as outfitting oneself in a sartorially offensive way that will result in repelling members of the opposite sex.
Such garments are not limited to harem pants, boyfriend jeans, overalls (see: human repelling), shoulder pads, full length jumpsuits, jewellery that resembles violent weaponry and clogs. Interpreting runway looks in her fashionably quirky way Medine, routinely terms her choices as sartorial contraceptives, donning which would make her fashionably independent, yet might offend or repel a straight man. The blog is a fabulously fun collection of photographs of individuals, objects, outfits and looks that are in tandem with the concept of keeping a man at bay with fashion, while she chronicles her everyday looks with élan.
