Foot fetishism

Summer sandals. Seductive. There is something about shoes which make them irresistible. I was watching a documentary on Tamara Mellon and she owns 600 pairs of shoes. Which is not that many considering she makes millions of shoes per year and dresses the entire universe of celebrities in her creations, and as the camera panned her entire walk-in closet, I did not notice a single style which was a repetition. Interesting.

This season the designers seem to have conspired to make the most amazing and hard-to-say-no to collection of shoes. Dior has nude sandals with criss-cross crystals. OMG! (Oh my god)Need I say more?
Christian Louboutin has a similar look in the crystallised net shoe in skin tones. Trust me; they would be noticed from a mile. And can completely make or break an outfit. I am not so sure about their safety quotient though. You might end up breaking a bone or two. A friend who recently wore them walked into the party holding my hand for fear of falling and continued to hold my hand all evening. By the end of the evening, we drew remarks such as ‘You make a cute couple’.
Anything, absolutely anything for shoes.Versace has nude stiletto slippers with the classic white logo pattern. Tres chic. Python clogs in multi-coloured hues by Yves Saint Laurent are a winner. Celine burgundy/ Bordeaux sandals with a gold chain in the front is timeless. Oscar de la Renta’s beige alligator sandal with a chain detail spells classic elegance.
Fendi has encapsulated the colour blocking trend in its multi-coloured sandal. Super to wear with jeans or a neutral garment. Diego Dolcini has an elegant multi-material range with various tones and colours.
Charlotte Olympia is making waves after she opened her new store off Bond Street, on Maddox Street and is now stocked in Harrods as well. Her collection signifies a young vibrant style.
The summer sandal also has gone floral with Dries von Noten putting huge summer flowers on her wedges and Nicholas Kirkwood has flower detail in his peep-toe range.
Gina shoes have an allure for a woman which only a woman can understand. Peachy colours in summer with an overdose of crystals cannot go wrong. Prada’s straw wedges are comfortable and stylish. Solid gold or silver Jimmy Choos are versatile. Crystal summer flats are wearable and beachy. Go on, girl.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
