Youth held for killing boy, says did it for revenge
The northwest district police has solved the brutal murder of a four-year-old boy that took place in Keshavpuram on Monday and arrested a youth who killed the boy to avenge the humiliation suffered after the deceased’s father had thrashed him.
The accused Mohd Tanveer lived on the same floor of the building where the victim Mohd Afridi was living. He has told the police that he and his associates had an altercation with Mohd Chand, father of the deceased, on November 23 following which he decided to take revenge.
“He lured the child by offering sweets and took him to an MCD park in Rampura area of Keshavpuram where he slit his throat and stabbed him with an associate when the boy resisted. The motive behind the murder was to take revenge for the thrashing of the accused by father of the deceased,” DCP (northwest) Meenu Chaudhary, said.
The accused is illiterate and was working in a footwear factory. He is a habitual drinker. The boy was a student of KG class in a primary school at Jai Mata Market, Tri Nagar. The police has recovered blood stained clothes and other evidence from him.

HC seeks report from police on lawyer attack
Age Correspondent
New Delhi, Nov. 2
The Delhi high court has directed the police to file a report stating why other policemen took no action when a sub-inspector assaulted a lawyer who had gone to the police station in connection with filing a FIR.
A division bench of Acting Chief Justice A.K. Sikri and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw asked the standing counsel (criminal) Pawan Sharma to file an affidavit by November 30. “Other policemen, who were present at the police station when the lawyer was assaulted, should have come forward to solve the issue but they acted as mute spectators,” the court said.
The court order came after senior advocate Ramesh Gupta, appearing for the victim lawyer Shreeji Bhavsar, submitted that the police, in their status report, said the FIR was lodged only against sub-inspector O.P. Yadav of Sarita Vihar police station but nothing was mentioned about the other policemen who were present but did not help the lawyer. The bench was hearing a petition filed by Divya Jyoti Jaipuriar, a colleague of the victim, seeking a direction against the police “high handedness”.
