Youth gets life for stabbing man on train

A youth has been sentenced to life imprisonment after a city court here held him guilty of stabbing a man to death for refusing to hand over his wallet in a local train.
Additional sessions judge Kaveri Baweja convicted 25-year-old Dil Bahar for stabbing Rakesh Kumar in a train when he and his friend were enroute to Bengaluru from Nizamuddin Station.
The court said, “For offence punishable under Section 302 IPC, the above named convict is sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for life.”
Further, for robbery, he is punished to undergo 10 years rigorous imprisonment and all the punishment will run concurrently.
The court also imposed a fine of `15,000 on the convict.
According to Rajinder Singh, who is also the complainant in this case, he and Rakesh boarded a express train from Muradabad to Delhi on November 4, 2009. They deboarded at Ghaziabad station and purchased tickets for Nizamuddin railway station, from where they planned to travel to Bengaluru.
But when the train stopped before the Yamuna bridge, three boys advanced towards them and demanded their belongings. When the victim was asked to handover his wallet, he refused and the convict stabbed him.

3-day Regional Film Festival begins Nov. 26

In a unique concept to showcase regional importance, the national capital is all set to organise the Regional Film Festival, starting November 26.
Organised by the department of art, culture, and languages, the government of Delhi, along with Sahitya Kala Parishad, this initiative is taken by chief minister Sheila Dikshit, who will also inaugurate the event.
The three-day festival will showcase films like Apur Sansar, Dahan and Chokh at the Siri Fort Auditorium-II at 6.30 pm.
Apur Sansar (The World of Apu) will be screened on the first day i.e. on November 26. Directed by Satyajit Ray, it is the third part of The Apu Trilogy, which showcases the childhood and early adulthood of a young boy named Apu, set in the early 20th century. The second day of the festival will witness the film Dahan (Crossfire), an award-winning Indian Bengali feature film directed by Rituparno Ghosh.
