Youth found dead, throat slit
A 22-year-old youth was found dead with his throat slit near Delhi University’s Ambedkar College in northeast Delhi on Wednesday morning.
The police said the deceased, identified as Shahdab alias Sonu, a resident of Rajeev Nagar in Gokalpuri, had gone missing from his residence on Tuesday evening following which his family had approached the police. “Shahdab was getting engaged on Wednesday and his family was busy making preparations. He had gone to get
a hair cut at a salon and went missing since then,” a source said.
The officials said Shahdab’s body was found lying near a nullah in Jyoti Nagar by a local who made a call to the police control room. A team of policemen arrived at the spot and rushed the victim to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. “He has a deep, long cut on his throat and excessive bleeding probably caused his death,” a doctor at the hospital said.
The police claimed to have recovered a countrymade pistol from the scene of crime which has been sent for forensic examination. The deceased’s father, Showkat Ali, deals in aluminum and Shahdab used to assist him in business.
“We suspect that personal enmity could have led to his murder. The call detail records of the deceased are being examined which could yield some leads in the case. We are questioning some local criminals but no arrests have been made so far,” a senior police official said.
The police said the statement of his family members is being recorded and the body has been sent for post-mortem.
A case of murder has been registered at the Jyoti Nagar police station.
