Woman gangraped in W. Delhi, accused held
A 21-year-old married woman was gangraped by two men in west Delhi’s Ranhola area on Friday evening.
The police said the incident took place on Friday evening when the victim was alone at her house. The two accused, identified as Ramesh, 21, and Vikas, 22, both residents of Ranhola, arrived at the house and asked for the victim’s husband, Sajid. “The victim told them that Sajid was out for work and will return late in the night upon which the two accused barged in,” a police official said.
“While Ramesh caught hold of the victim and gagged her with his hands, Vikas bolted the room. The two later raped her one by one. However, before leaving, the accused threatened her not to narrate the incident to anyone,” the official said. The victim lives with her husband and two children.
In the meantime, Sajid, who works as a rickshawpuller, arrived at his Baprola residence late on Friday. On entering the house, his wife started crying and narrated the happenings to him following which the two went to the Ranhola police station and lodged a complaint against the accused.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where a medical examination confirmed sexual assault. A case was registered and the two accused were arrested on Saturday.
