Woman ends life, in-laws held

A 21-year-old newlywed woman committed suicide by jumping off the third floor of her house here due to harassment for dowry, the police said Thursday.

Her husband and his five relatives were arrested.
The incident was reported from Green Park Extension around 11.30 pm on Monday.
“She resided in a rented accommodation with her husband Dheeraj and in-laws,” said a police official.
Preliminary investigation suggested that she jumped from the terrace of the building as she was apparently disturbed over her in-laws harassing her for dowry, said the official.
“She died in the hospital. No suicide note was recovered,” added the official.
The deceased woman’s father filed a complaint with the police alleging that his daughter was being harassed by her in-laws for dowry that led her to take the extreme step.
