Woman, 20, robbed by ‘armed’ bikers
A 20-year-old girl was allegedly robbed at gunpoint by two bike-borne assailants in the high security New Delhi district, the police said on Saturday.
Police officials the incident took place on Thursday morning when the victim, who works with a private security company in Karol Bagh, was going to office. She had left her residence around 8 am and was walking towards the bus stand near Birla Mandir in Mandir Marg area when two assailants riding a silver colour Pulsar motorcycle intercepted her.
“Before she could understand what was going on, the assailants snatched her gold chain. One of them took out a pistol and pointed it at the victim, threatening her to remain quiet. The assailants then made their way out of the area, The victim made a call to her brother, Shakti, who arrived at the spot,” a senior police official said.
A call was then made to the police control room at around 8.30 am and a team of police personnel arrived at the spot and recorded the statement of the victim.
A case of armed robbery has been registered at the Mandir Marg police station.
The victim’s family has, however, denied that the assailants were carrying a firearm.
“The assailants only snatched her chain and sped away. They were not armed. The police has added this clause to the statement for their own convenience. We even sent them an application to correct the statement. Yesterday, they told us that they will get it done but so far they haven’t got back to us,” her family members said.
A lawyer was attacked by two bike borne assailants earlier this week on K.G. Marg and stabbed in abdomen when he resisted their robbery attempts. The robbers took away his iPhone.
The police remains clueless about the identity of bikers in both cases.
