Wife, relative held for killing local leader
The police found the skeleton of a local communist leader six months after he had gone missing. The police claimed that the deceased, Ram Charan Ram, 60, a resident of Bawana, Outer Delhi, was murdered six months ago and his body was buried at an isolated spot in the area.
The wife and a relative of the deceased have been arrested in the case.
“The special operation squad of crime branch got information about the accused planning to leave Delhi. A team conducted a raid at their residence and found the deceased’s wife Janki packing baggage with her brother-in-law Vinod. They were brought to the police station where they confessed their role in Ram Charan’s murder. Another accused Jhagru, who is also the brother-in-law of Janki is absconding,” said a senior police official.
During interrogation, Janki revealed that her husband was having illicit relation with another woman and was about to transfer a property in her name.
“Janki revealed that Ram had sold a property in 2012 for `7 lakhs and bought a new one for `4 lakhs. He spent rest of the money on the woman with whom he was having illicit relations and wanted to transfer the property in her name. In December 2012, Janki disclosed this to her two brothers-in-law — Jhagru and Vinod who assured to get rid of Ram Charan. They abducted Ram and locked him in a room, tied his limbs and told neighbours that he has gone to a relative’s place on New Year Eve. Two days later they killed him and buried his body at an isolated spot in Bawana,” said the official.
