Wanted criminal arrested by cops
The outer Delhi police arrested the notorious extortionist and gangster Pradeep Dahiya from Mangolpuri area on Thursday evening along with his two associates and recovered a huge cache of arms from his possession.
The accused, Pradeep Dahiya, Joginder and Krishan were arrested following a secret tip-off from Mangolpuri and the police claimed to have recovered a rifle, a revolver, two pistols with live cartridges and a white Maruti Swift car from their possession. The accused were intercepted by a special team. In an attempt to escape they opened fire at the police party which overpowered and arrested them.
“During interrogation, it has been revealed that Pradeep Dahiya extorted money from cable operators and gamblers and was involved in 14 cases. His rival Mohit Chhabra, alias Gori, was arrested two year ago in a murder case,” he said.
“Gori suspected Pradeep’s hand in his arrest and had tried to kill Dahiya through his henchman inside the Tihar jail. Dahiya had become the main money collector from all illegal activities and established his name in criminals operating in the national capital region,” DCP (outer) B.S. Jaiswal added.
The DCP further informed that the gang used to target affluent businessmen, satta operators, cable operators, persons involved in disputed properties and used arms to extort money from them.
The gang members always carried heavy arms to create terror and frequently moved from one area to another.
All the accused have a criminal background and have been charged by the police under the Arms Act along with other sections of the Indian Penal Code.
