Van rams mini-truck: 1 dead, 11 hurt
Sudden dense fog on Saturday night resulted in three accidents in the city. One person was killed on the spot on NH-1 and eleven others were injured when a private van rammed into a mini-truck. The police said that the van driver could
not anticipate the distance between the two vehicles due to dense fog and hit the mini-truck in full speed. The van was ferrying sixteen people to Yamuna Vihar from Panipat. All were returning after attending a marriage ceremony.
“The truck had halted at the traffic signal when the van rammed into it from behind,” said a police official.
in another incident, two persons sustained injuries in Lodhi Colony area when their motorcycle was hit by a Porsche car being driven by a wife of a businessman.
“The injured were identified as Navin and Neeraj. We have arrested the woman Ashima Aggarwal and an FIR under Sections 279 (rash and negligence driving) and 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) has been lodged,” said a police official.
In the third incident, a 12-year-old Class 8 student came under the wheels of a Blueline bus in Narela area and died on the spot.
“The deceased, Laxmi Kumari Mourya, had come to appear in the National Talent Search Examination. She was trying to board a Blueline bus of route number 103 plying between Narela and Azadpur to return home after the exam,” said the police official.
