Transit remand for maoist
A city court on Friday granted transit remand of Soni Sori, who was arrested here three days ago, for allegedly acting as a conduit between Maoists and a private firm.
Additional chief metropolitan magistrate Naveen Arora directed that Sori be produced before the court of judicial magistrate, Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh.
A resident of naxal-affected Dantewada district, the 36-year-old was apprehended from Katwaria Sarai on Tuesday by a Delhi police team.
“I grant transit remand of three days for accused Soni Sori to be produced before the concerned court of Yogita Vinay Vasnik, judicial magistrate, first class, district Dantewada. IO is directed to take all measures to ensure the safety of the accused,” the court said in its order.
Earlier, additional sessions judge Yogesh Khanna rejected the plea for grant of bail to the petitioner, saying “it is not a fit case for grant of bail to the applicant at this stage.”
