Trafficking gang busted, police arrests kingpin
The crime branch has arrested a man and claimed to have busted a human trafficking racket. The police also arrested a woman who sold her daughter to the accused.
A senior police official said that two associates of the accused had already been arrested by them recently. The accused has been identified as Deena Nath Tiwari, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, Tiwari, who is the kingpin of the racket, had been evading arrest after two of his associates Sumit Sharma and Gladwin Messey were arrested by the crime branch on May 1 and a baby girl was recovered from their possession.
During interrogation, Sharma and Messey revealed that the baby girl was procured by Tiwari from a locality in Northeast Delhi.
Tiwari was arrested on June 5 after crime branch received a tip off about his movements.
Tiwari said he had bought the girl from one Rahisa Khatoon for `75,000.
She was paid `25,000 whereas the remaining amount was to be paid later.
At the instance of Tiwari, Khatoon, the biological mother of the girl, was also arrested.
Khatoon told the police that the girl was born to her in February 2013. She sold her to Tiwari for `75,000 as she was facing financial crisis.

18-yr youth slips, drowns in canal

NEW DELHI, JUNE 12
An 18-year-old youth drowned after he allegedly slipped in a deep canal while bathing in New Ashok Nagar area of East Delhi.
A senior police official said that the body was fished out immediately but the youth had died by then. The deceased has been identified as Shivam, the police official said.
“The deceased, a native of Shahjahanpur in UP, had come to his aunt’s house to spend his summer vacations,” said the police official.
On Tuesday evening, he went with his friends to take a bath in the canal but slipped and drowned.
“He could not withstand the strong current and was washed away. His two friends tried to save him but failed. The fire department was called and divers were rushed to the spot. The divers took him out and rushed him to a nearby government hospital where he was declared brought dead,” said a senior police official.
