Trader shot at by bikers, cash robbed
A 46-year-old businessman was shot at by two unidentified bike-borne assailants who fled after robbing his bag several lakh rupees in Govindpuri area of southeast Delhi at around 5 pm.
A senior police official said the victim Vivek Sood, alias Bittoo, runs a garment factory. He was going to bank to deposit the cash when he was attacked and robbed by bikers.
Sood, who lives in Gurgaon, was in his car when he was intercepted by bikers near Aadi Marg.
“The assailants knocked the window of Sood’s car and made him stop. When he asked them why did they knock they tried to snatch his bag. Sood resisted them, tried to raise alarm and threw his bag away. Meanwhile, one of the assailants took out a pistol and opened fire at Sood. A bullet hit Sood in his stomach and he fell down on the road,” said the police official.
A crowd of locals and commuters gathered at the spot on hearing the commotion but the assailants had escaped by then. The police was informed and the victim was taken to a nearby hospital.
The bag containing the cash was missing from the spot. However, the police said that it is not known who picked up the bag; the assailants or someone from the crowd.
