Trader’s car robbed near hotel in Saket
Two unidentified assailants snatched a Volkswagen Vento car from the driver of a businessman after targeting him outside Sheraton New Delhi Hotel in Saket on Tuesday night. The robbers snatched the driver’s mobile and cash before throwing him out of the moving car in Pushp Vihar area.
The police said the victim, identified as Chhatrapal, 30, a native of Uttar Pradesh, had dropped his employer Sudhir Mathur near Sheraton New Delhi Hotel in Saket at around 12 am as he had to attend a marriage reception of a relative at the hotel. Sources said the victim then drove the car towards the back side of the hotel near IRCON building and was waiting for Mathur to come out when two unidentified assailants appeared on the two sides of the car and asked him to open the door.
“The victim initially resisted but the assailants fished out arms and threatened to kill him. Chhatrapal was terrified and yielded to their demands. The assailants then got into the car and started making their way out of the area. When the victim asked them to let him go, one of the assailants took out his mobile phone and cash before throwing him out near Pushp Vihar area,” a source said.
The victim, who suffered minor bruises in the fall, made a call to his employer to intimate him about the robbery. The victim then approached the Saket police station where a complaint was lodged and his statement was recorded.
“A case has been registered,” a senior police official said.
The police has asked the hotel authorities to provide the CCTV footage which may offer some leads in the case.
