Tihar products at Kendriya Bhandars soon
Encouraged by the response of its in-house products at Mother Dairy and other outlets, Tihar Jail (TJ) authorities are planning to start sale of their items at stores of Kendriya Bhandar in the capital.
“TJ Brand potato chips, peanuts, biscuits, namkeen, muffins and cakes made by inmates of the Tihar jail will be available at all 22 stores owned by the Central Govt. Employees Consumer Cooperative Society Ltd (Kendriya Bhandar),” Sunil Gupta, law officer and spokesperson of Tihar Prisons said.
Mr Gupta said, “We have tied up with the Kendriya Bhandar and now TJ brand products will be available in all stores. This has been done to meet the increasing demand for our products.”
Already seven outlets in the city are selling TJ brand products. With this, the number of stores selling the brand products will go up to 29.
The law officer also made it clear that they were aiming at attaining the goal of `15 crore annual turnover this year.
To achieve this amount, they were exploring all the avenues for advertising the products through FM radio and other media.
“We intend to reach a large section of people. That is why we are making our products available at Kendriya Bhandar outlets. We are aiming to generate `3 crore this year,” Mr Gupta said.
