Tihar to get solar water heaters
Now the inmates lodged in the Asia’s largest Tihar Jail will get hot water during the winter season. The Tihar authorities have confirmed that they are planning to set up solar-powered water heaters in the jail. According to jail officials, at least 16 such heaters will be planted on the roofs of the jail.
“Primarily, the project aims to fulfil the requirement of hot water in the kitchen and bakery but if inmates need hot water then it will be available to them also,” said a Tihar jail official, adding that solar water heaters with a capacity of 3,000 to 5,000 litres will be planted before this winter season. A separate water heater will be provided to the hospital inside the Tihar Jail. The jail authorities are also planning to install heaters in the jail and the tenders for the same has been floated in September.
However, the officials said that the facility of heater would be available only to the staff of the jail and not in the barracks.
The VIP inmates will surely not have to deal with cold water, as they will get the hot water. As of now, 14 high profile inmates are lodged in the Tihar for their alleged involvement in 2G-allocation scam, five for their alleged involvement in CWG scam and four VIPs were recently sent to the Tihar.
