Support pours in for Baba Ramdev

People have started pouring in to support Baba Ramdev’ satyagraha against corruption and black money with preparations going on full swing at Ramlila Maidan here where the yoga guru will sit on a fast unto death from Saturday.

Over 16,000 volunteers have registered themselves to sit on fast with Baba Ramdev at Ramlila Maidan.
People from all walks of life, irrespective of their social status, are working in unison to make the satyagraha a success. “Corruption in our country has hit the peak. There is need to usher in a change. Alone we cannot but together we can and when Baba Ramdev is holding the baton we will devote our life for the cause,” said Major Singh, a teacher from Rajasthan.
Priyanka Jaiswal from Bihar left her full time job in a multinational bank for the cause. “I left my job because I was not able to devote time for the cause. I am here in Delhi for my country, for those 84 crore people who still do not get one meal a day, who do not have roof on their heads, and against those who make others suffer”.
Ramesh Prasad, a furniture merchant came from Siliguri, West Bengal, braving a three-day journey. “I left my small children with my parents and have come to support Baba Ramdev. I consider myself fortunate that I could come. I am sure Baba’s efforts will bring a seachange in the way our country works.”
The registration of the participants has started with booths having been set up statewise. The registration paper is a kind of signed document which says that the person participating in the satyagraha has not been forced to do so.
“Over 16,000 people who have come from across the country to Ramlila Maidan have been registered. More than 70,000 have been registered in Haridwar alone,” Patanjali Yogpeeth spokesperson Somveer Arya said.
Meanwhile, arrangements on the 2.60 lakh sq ft area, which will turn into a protest ground from June 4, are underway. Over 650 bathrooms have been erected and 500 taps have been installed. Fans, coolers, LeD screens are being fitted in the huge pandal.
