Spurned youth opens fire at girl’s parents
A 22-year-old jilted lover allegedly attacked and opened fire at the parents of a girl who spurned his advances. The incident has been reported from Jyoti Nagar area of northeast Delhi. A senior police official said that the incident took place at around 10 am on Sunday morning.
The official said that the victims, identified as Yogesh Jain and Poonam Jain, were rushed to a nearby government hospital where they were undergoing treatment. The victim family lives on rent in the area. Jain has two daughters.
“The accused, identified as Pushpender, was making advances towards the elder daughter of the victim but she had rebuffed him each time. On Sunday, Pushpender came to their house carrying a countrymade pistol. He had an argument with the girl. When Poonam intervened in the matter, Pushpender pushed her and she fell on the ground,” said a senior police official.
When the girl objected to his behaviour, Pushpender started beating Poonam with a stick, the official said. Poonam fell on the floor in a pool of blood.
Yogender reached there in the meanwhile. Pushpender took out a pistol and opened fire. Yogender received a gunshot in his abdomen and fell.
The official said Pushpender fled through the terrace.
The police was informed about the incident. The victims were rushed to the GTB Hospital where they were admitted to the ICU.
The police said that Pushpender had been known to the girl since school days.
The parents of the girl did not like his friendship with her and shifted their house. “We have registered an FIR of attempt to murder in this respect and are looking into the matter. Pushpender is absconding,” said the police official.
