Speeding DTC bus kills youth

A mob of two dozen people went on a rampage and damaged nine DTC buses after an 18-year-old was crushed to death by a speeding DTC bus near Bara Hindu Rao Hospital in North Delhi area.

A senior police official said the incident took place on Friday morning. The deceased was identified as Ainin Hyder. The police said that the deceased was riding a scooter when he met with the accident.
“Hyder’s scooter was hit by a DTC bus from behind. He fell on the road and got crushed. Hyder was rushed to a nearby government hospital where he was declared brought dead. Soon after the incident, the relatives and family members of the deceased gathered outside the police station and started shouting slogans. They went on a rampage and started vandalising DTC buses,” said the official.
The protest grew violent as they started pelting stones at the police.
The police registered an FIR against the errant DTC bus driver under Sections 279 (rash and negligence driving) and 304-A (death due to negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Bara Hindu Rao police station.
“The errant driver Jagram Meena was arrested. Extra force was deployed and the situation was brought under control,” said a senior police official.
