Show brings together world’s rarest stamps
In a first, the department of post’s (DoP) postal stamp made of khadi was unveiled at the ongoing philatelic exhibition, “Indipex 2011”, inaugurated by President Pratibha Patil on Saturday. The World Philatelic Exhibition began on Saturday at the Hamsadhwani Theatre at Pragati Maidan. The week-long exhibition will showcase some of the
finest and rarest stamp collections from around the world reflecting the history, culture, socio-economic behaviour, sports, environment, etc. across countries and people.
“For the first time in history, a special khadi stamp is being used, which is on Mahatma Gandhi, the apostle of non-violence, and I have the great honour of releasing it today,” President of India Pratibha Devisingh Patil said while inaugurating the exhibition.
One can order a maximum of 10 khadi stamps for `250 each.
