Sheila says pray to God
Chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Monday accused the heavy rains for the waterlogging in the national capital. When asked about the submerged city in this rainy season, she said, “Pray to the God(s) to stop the rains.”
Putting the blame on civic bodies for the flooding of arterial roads and various areas following a four-hour-long heavy shower on Saturday, Ms Dikshit said the municipal corporations will have to find a solution to the problem.
“I do not want to get into fixing anybody’s responsibilities. It is the responsibility of the civic bodies,” the chief minister said when referred to massive chaos on the city roads after the rain.
Meanwhile, rains lashed the city on Monday. Streets were flooded again with water due to waterlogging, resulting in heavy traffic jams on various arterial roads.
Massive traffic jams due to waterlogging were reported in several areas such as Dhaula Kuan, Badarpur-Mahipalpur road, ITO, South Extension, Janakpuri, Laxmi Nagar, Azadpur, Bhawal and Okhla.
The weatherman has predicted thundershowers and light rains for the next 24 hours.
