Sheila: Our govt takes care of the poor
Chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Saturday laid foundation stones of two community centres at Nand Nagari in East Delhi and Raghubir Nagar of West Delhi on Saturday. Ahead of the Assembly polls, the CM praised her government and reminded people about the city government’s various schemes and steps taken for welfare of Delhiites.
“Our government has been taken care of the poor and other vulnerable sections of the society. It has started conferring ownership rights in 45 resettlement colonies and has also regularised large number of unauthorised colonies where poor and middle class families have been putting up. Apart from this, the government has given food security to around 32 lakh persons under first phase. The government at the Centre and Delhi government have been working in tandem to ensure that no one remains hungry,” she said while addressing the gathering at Raghubir Nagar area. Congress MP from west Delhi Mahabal Mishra was also present at the function.
The air-conditioned four-story community centre will become functional from October and its is being constructed with and estimated expenditure of `2.20 crore.
At the function of laying foundation stone of community centre at Nand Nagari, Ms Dikshit said that her government is working in the direction of overall development.
“The infrastructure development is visible whereas the benefits under various welfare schemes are being felt by the beneficiaries. Apart from this, the education sector and transport sector have also witnessed a sea-change. The Trans Yamuna area is presently having three Metro lines — Rithala-Dilshad Garden, Dwarka-Noida Centre and Vaishali. Further, the Trans Yamuna area would have another Metro line coming up under the third phase. This will connect Mukundpur Depot to Shiv Vihar in Trans Yamuna area. The longest Metro route with length of 57 km would also connect colonies along the Ring Road and colonies in the Trans Yamuna area,” she said. The community centre is being constructed with an estimated cost of `5.5 crore.
